Kujichagulia, Second Day of Kwanzaa

Today is December 27, which marks Day two of Kwanzaa. Today’s principle is Kujichagulia (koo-jee-cha-goo-LEE-ah), Self Determination. Self determination as related to Nguzo Saba (En-GOO-zoh Sah-BAH) Is to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.

Today’s ritual included the lighting of the first candle (the middle black candle) followed by the second candle (the red one on the far left). I also chose to burn incense and lay  at the foot of my alter to meditate and visualize. Partaking in libations, I called to my orisha to help me focus on the bigger picture of who I am and the narrative that I have been chosen to share. Upon reflection I’ve seen that I have always been a unique individual that has the power to lead, though I am still unclear on what I am leading.
