Taking on a journey is not about shaming yourself into something or creating a chore for yourself. It’s about learning about yourself, what you want, understanding what drives your goals, and how to move towards your goals. A journey has a destination, but the destination can and should change as you live life and gain experience. Just as in a hero's quest you will encounter obstacles, challenges, and make new discoveries that will change the way you think, act, and/or feel.
Every step forward is a step in the right direction. In every step a lesson is learned, we are driven to get from point A to B. More often than not there are words of encouragement and guidance that help keep us motivated and moving forward. It's important that we take ownership and responsibility for our attitude, emotions, actions and reactions. It's a tall order that has to be fulfilled to find peace within yourself even though we are surrounded by chaos. Keeping positive affirmations and good news is an excellent way to remind yourself that life isn't all bad.
Journaling is a great way to express yourself and keep track of your thoughts, your emotions, and writing down all of the things you didn't say, but wish you could. Journaling also allows you to track your journey and discover those little moments of then, only to rediscover that those little moments were actually special moments in the now. Journaling can be as simple as writing your thoughts or filming your thoughts on video. I've known people that actually create audio journals, which I think is kind of cool as long as you have the attention span to do it. When it comes to journaling, you have to find your way and what works best for you.
Next week I will share bits and pieces of my journal daily that focus on reflection & gratitude. I recognize that I am at a point where I need to do some more positive self-motivation. I feel like more than ever that I need to focus on connecting with more people that, too are seeking to "get it together." The pieces that I share will be small blurbs and random musings. I warn you now that there may be some hiccups along the way, but I will do my best to stay on task. If I don't get to post every single day, that's okay. I am human, life happens, and making myself feel bad because of those reasons aren't worth the disappointments or negativity.
The second we start shaming ourselves into doing something we have already lost the battle. We have to remember and internalize that trying to make change is about the mental state to persevere and move forward. Creating a positive frame of mind is to keep a positive energy in everything that you do. Take every little win as it comes in and celebrate your accomplishments and don't be afraid to write about it. A positive attitude reinforces a positive energy that creates a positive experience giving you positive results.
