Yes, you should wear your size and style with pride and confidence as it is your living & breathing temple. But keep in mind temples are simplistic and unless unfinished don’t just have extra construction pieces lying around. What’s my point? Try to stay away from clothing that has extra material just hanging off of your body unless it truly serves a purpose and fashion statement that is loud and clear, but mostly clear. Otherwise it ends up looking like you are wearing drapes. Wear clothing that compliments your body and better accentuates what you should be proud of.
Note to self: It’s okay to have lazy days and to just slouch off when the time and place call for it. Even Queen Bey takes time to simply Bey.
Everyone has that one outfit that they can put on and they instantly transform into the character that their outfit has created. Upon reflection you could even say that your wardrobe is essentially your costume closet. You know exactly what I mean. Feminine ladies, we all have that one dress in our closets that make us feel sexy, special, and bomebshell-esque. It’s in that dress that we walk a little taller or we even gain a little extra switch in our hips when we walk. It’s those feelings which contribute to how we feel about ourselves, how we act as well as react to others around us. Often we end up fueling a perpetual state of confidence and self-esteem.
Have you ever observed the moment when one puts on a business suit, looks in the mirror then instantly they are ready to get down to business? This phenomenon correlates strongly with the ideology behind the infamous phrase “Clothes make the woman.” People tend to slip into the role that their clothing reflects and that often builds confidence in the wearer. When people dress up “fancy” they, when in the mindset of “fanciness”, carry that air of “fancy”, right?
So yes, it’s true that you should dress comfortably and that should be what really matters, but when I dare interject wear clothing that makes you feel good and makes you feel how you want to feel and be expressed. Your wardrobe acts as a stepping stone in realizing your own visual personal branding. Take pride in who you are as your own personal brand. Take pride in your own personal style and be sure to treat yourself well and you’ll look the part.
